Why is advertising so important to the success of a business?
Well its simple, the amount of money you make is directly correlated to the amount of times you ask someone to buy from you.
The importance of advertising for your business is that it makes the customers aware of your products or services, engages them, and helps them make the buying decision. If you’re not letting people know that you exist and you’re not asking them to buy from you then there never going to.
Now Its important to understand that there’s a process people go through to make a buying decision, depending on the product or service and how much it costs. This is where marketing comes in to play where advertising is a part of the marketing process to get them to buy. advertising isn’t really all that simple though as its not as easy as just running an ad and then voila they buy. some of that has to do with timing, relevance to their need desire, trust in the product or service, how greedy they are and the price. so lets cover those here for a minute. I’m going to make this super simple to understand.
Timing- Is it the right timing for them to actually buy your product or service? A great example may be a young couple where the guy is just researching engagement rings because he’s thinking about popping the question, but he’s not 100% ready yet. Nothing you do will get him to buy because the timing isn’t right.
Need- Does the person actually need your product or service? as per our previous example say that the timing is now right. That means he’s in the process of seriously looking to buy. He definitely has a need for a ring now and is in the market. If you can connect with him then you have a great chance at getting a new customer.
Desire- Now we need to look at how much does this person desire what you offer? Looking at our previous example again to keep this relevant, how bad does this person want what you have? How can you fill their need to where they just cant tell you no? Depending on the pain or the urgency that this person is feeling, this can be a major factor in if they choose to do business with you.
Trust- Do they trust you or your product/service? Its important to make sure you have reviews and testimonials of clients that have done business with you, where they had good outcomes. The actual statistics are 25 or more reviews equate to a 50% higher chance of a client converting while on the other hand making their buying decision 72% of clients won’t take action until they read reviews on a company and this is true either before or after a sales interaction.
Greed or status- Another important thing to understand is that people are selfish and they want to either save money or have what other people don’t in order to fill some kind of need or social hierarchy. I’m sure we all know that 1 person that’s always looking for a discount or the opposite where they don’t care what they spend as long as they have the best of the best. There usually isn’t an in between and most people fall into one or the other of these categories. If you can combine this with the rest of the factors this can be a strong motivator in getting someone to buy.
Price- It doesn’t matter how perfect the timing is how much they need something or how bad they have to have it, if the price isn’t right they aren’t buying. Maybe you’re priced too high? or maybe you’re priced just right but they just cant afford it. This is where trust comes into play as Its important to have options for your clients in order to help them with buying what you have. Do you have funding options or payment plans available? if someone wants something bad enough and you’ve done everything correctly they will find a way to buy what you have to offer. If you can give them a means to an end the easier you make it for them to buy the more clients you will be able to convert.
